Encounter is the youth group for children in school years 5 to 7, which meets every Sunday morning at 9am and 11am after the first couple of songs in the main services. We then come back into the meeting at the end when the praise starts again. At 10:30am there is a coffee break where everyone comes together to chat and catch up.
During each session the children have the opportunity to develop and expand their knowledge of the Bible using a variety of methods, which include games, drama, singing or writing. We encourage the children to take an active part in the meetings and provide time for group discussions, debate and prayer/response.
We organise socials every fortnight on a Saturday evening and encourage the children to bring friends along. Some of our previous social events have included a theatre trip to see Joseph, a Mexican evening, ‘Posh Nosh’ where the leaders cooked and served dinner to the children, and more recently a night hike over the downs. You can see a list of the socials that are coming up including maps in the column to the right of this article.
Each year in June we arrange a residential weekend trip away providing an opportunity for the kids to build their faith and learn more about God, grow together as a group and… have loads of fun!
